Attitudes to inheritance are changing as a result of increased longevity, according to a new piece of research from the UK by think-tank the Social Market Foundation (SMF).

An elderly woman who lives a reclusive life in Serbia has reportedly given away the fortune she inherited from her estranged husband in Australia, reports the BBC.

The organisation of a deceased loved one’s affairs can be a very difficult experience. You will likely still be grieving the loss when attempting to concentrate on managing and distributing assets from their estate. This is made all the more complicated when there is no Will (known as dying intestate), and truly tragic where the only parties who would be entitled to inherit under intestacy rules die at around the exact same time.

The creation of a valid Will requires care and attention, so that our wishes for the distribution of our property will be clearly communicated to those we leave behind when we die. It is for this reason that the law sets out strict requirements for how a Will is to be properly constituted.
